Fox Farm Vineyards’ Willamette wines are delicate and feminine, but our Rogue Valley reds show no such restraint. The warmer climate south of Medford provides sites with the ability to very fully ripen, and to make wine with meaty, smoky, masculine aromas- but which still keep the higher-toned acidity for which we are known.
Adding 1% Viognier is a step to intensify and lock in color, and it gives a faint whisper of floral tones to the aromatics. As an unusual opinion, many have said that this wine tastes like syrah, but that it feels like Cabernet Sauvignon.
17 months of oak aging, with 40% new oak certainly adds a layer of structure and medium tannins to the bright aromatic core of black fruit and smoke. 119 cases produced.
